Japan Club
In our first block (pre-recorded) we explore the fascinating geography of Japan. Through maps, stories, games and creative challenges, each session focuses on a different aspect of Japan’s physical and human geography - such as mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, population, weather, transport and regional culture.

Children will develop their understanding of key geographical concepts by comparing Japan to their own locality, learning how Japan’s location and landscape shape everyday life. From the snowy mountains of Hokkaido to the high-speed trains of Tokyo, participants will discover what makes each region unique while building map skills, critical thinking, and a sense of global awareness.

As well as different topics, members of Japan Club will have the opportunity to learn the Japanese language from the pre-recorded tutorials and then practise during live sessions (during term time) if they would like to. There’s never any pressure, it’s all about a shared interest in Japan and the community.

micro:bit Club
Our first block (pre-recorded) explores the outdoors through hands-on coding challenges using the micro:bit including tracking the temperature, light levels, sound and the force of the wind!

Each week during term time, you'll be able to watch a pre-recorded tutorial to learn new skills and join a live session to experiment, share ideas or get help. Whether your children prefer to work at their own pace with the pre-recordings or dive straight into live sessions, this club is designed for flexibility and fun.

What you need:

  • A micro:bit starter kit - If you don't have a micro:bit yet, check out the Story STEAM Academy shop for starter kits. https://www.storysteam.com/product/microbit-starter-kit/
  • 2 screens - one to watch tutorials / join live sessions and a second screen to code on. Alternatively, you can code a micro:bit using a bluetooth enabled tablet or ipad. For this, you need to download the micro:bit app.

Terms and Conditions for Class Sign-Up

By booking a place on classes or clubs, you agree to the following:

1. No Cancellations or Refunds

All bookings are final. We do not offer refunds or transfers for cancellations or changes in personal circumstances. Missed sessions cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

2. Illness or Absence

If your child is unable to attend a live session due to illness or other commitments, we are unable to offer a refund, credit, or make-up class.

3. Class Cancellations by Us

If we need to cancel a session (e.g. due to tutor illness or technical difficulties), we will offer an alternative date for catch up sessions.

4. Behaviour and Participation

We expect all participants to behave respectfully. If a child’s behaviour disrupts the class, we reserve the right to remove them without refund.

5. Cameras on at the start of live sessions
For safeguarding, cameras should be on at the start of every session but can be turned off after that if they wish. However, the idea behind small group sessions is to create a collaborative environment where the groups can get to know each other so I encourage cameras to stay on. Participants may use the chat function, unmute their microphones or simply hold things up to show during sessions.

The price for membership is £45.00 per Month.
