In our first two blocks (April - June) we will explore the fascinating geography of Japan. Through maps, stories, games and creative challenges, each session focuses on a different aspect of Japan’s physical and human geography – such as mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes, population, weather, regional culture, transport and sustainability.
Children will develop their understanding of key geographical concepts by comparing Japan to their own locality, learning how Japan’s location and landscape shape everyday life. From the snowy mountains of Hokkaido to the high-speed trains of Tokyo, participants will discover what makes each region unique while building map skills, critical thinking, and a sense of global awareness.
As well as different topics, members of Japan Club will have the opportunity to learn the Japanese language from the pre-recorded tutorials and then practise during live sessions if they would like to. There’s never any pressure, it’s all about a shared interest in Japan and the community.
